Rod Fisher is the Director of International Intelligence on Culture and also of the European Cultural Foundation UK Committee. For 24 years he was a visiting lecturer at City University, London, and he continues to lecture at Goldsmiths College, University of London etc. Rod co-founded the CIRCLE cultural research network and was its first chairman, 1985-94. Much of Rod"s early career was in arts and leisure programming and planning, while his mid career years were spent in information, research and international affairs at the Arts Council of Great Britain. Rod has undertaken research, lectured or addressed conferences in 28 countries. He has written extensively, e.g. on comparative cultural policy and expenditure, the European institutions and culture, cultural diplomacy and arts management training, and has a particular interest in culture in Asia as well as Europe. He now prefers to work part-time, focusing on lecturing, conferences and occasional research. He was last in Prague in 2007, moderating a seminar on the UK creative industries. |
