Ritva Mitchell is also the President of the Board of Governors of the European Institute for Comparative Cultural Research (ERICarts) and former president of CIRCLE network and the Orientation Board of European Diploma in Cultural Project Management. She is a political scientist who has specialised in cultural policy research for the past 30 years. She has worked as a researcher at the University of Helsinki, head of research at the Arts Council of Finland, and programme advisor at the Council of Europe. While working at the Council of Europe she was responsible, among other things, for the European cultural policy review programme. Furthermore she has worked as an expert for the Finnish Minister of Education and Culture, Nordic Council of Ministers, UNESCO, the EU and a number of governments in Europe and Asia. She has just finalised her report on Vietnamese cultural policy. She has authored and edited books and written numerous articles on cultural development and cultural policies and lectures at different Finnish and European universities in cultural policy studies, particularly on European cultural policies and European integration. Ritva sits on several advisory boards of different cultural agencies and institutes. Presently she is involved in the three year (2008-2010) EU funded (structural funds) research and development project "Creative Finland' run together with the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and the Creative Tampere. |
