Philippe Kern is the founder and managing director of KEA European Affairs (www.keanet.eu). He has 20 years" experience in the world of creative industries. He is a specialist in copyright, antitrust and trade law. Philippe Kern has led a range of research and strategy programs at European level on creative issues, notably for the European Commission and the European Parliament. KEA carried out the first ever European wide report describing the economic and social importance of culture in Europe for the European Commission in 2006. This has been followed by a second report aiming to demonstrate the impact of culture on creativity which has been completed in March 2009. Philippe Kern has an unparalleled network of contacts in the cultural/creative field at international level. Kern was former Director of Public and Legal Affairs of PolyGram and head of the IFPI Brussels office. He is the founder and secretary general of the European Film Companies Alliance (EFCA - www.efcasite.org) as well as the founder of the Independent Music Companies Association (IMPALA - www.impalamusic.org) and e-films. Kern is a member of the board of the European film college in Denmark and executive producer of the film ?Stories on Human Rights? developed in 2008 to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights Kern graduated in law from the universities of Strasbourg and Paris as well as the College of Europe in Bruges. Philippe Kern is an established speaker at international conferences, managing seminars and workshops. |
