Nina Obuljen, The State Secretary at the Croatian Ministry of Culture, graduated both from the Academy of Music and the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb. She holds a master's degree in Political Science from the University of Zagreb. Until her appointment as Assistant Minister of Culture in 2006, she worked as a research fellow at the Institute for International Relations in Zagreb, Croatia. Nina Obuljen is the author of several articles in the field of cultural policy focusing in particular on the issues of the EU integration, transformations of cultural policies and cultural diversity. In July 2004 Nina Obuljen has been awarded the European Cultural Policy Research Award for her research on the impact of the EU enlargement on cultural policies which was published in the book Why we need European Cultural Policies: impact of EU enlargement on countries in transition, Amsterdam, 2006. In collaboration with Joost Smiers, she edited a book entitled UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: Making it Work, Zagreb 2006 |
