David Throsby is Professor of Economics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. He has published widely in the economics of art and culture, as well as in the economics of the environment and the economics of education. His current research interests include the role of artists as economic agents, sustainability of cultural capital, theories of value, and the relationships between economic and cultural policy. His book Economics and Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2001) has been translated into five languages. Together with Victor Ginsburgh, he edited the Handbook of the Economics of Art and Culture Vol. 1 (Elsevier Science/North-Holland, 2006), and a second volume is in preparation. David Throsby's new book, The Economics of Cultural Policy, is due for publication by Cambridge in 2009. |
